Based on the principle of both ancient acupressure and modern psychology, EFT concentrates on specific energy meridians while focusing on negative emotions or physical symptoms. The technique developed from the ancient Chinese medical system of acupuncture, restores balance of energy in the body. However, unlike conventional acupuncture, EFT uses fingertips on the end points of the energy meridians (found just under the skin) instead of needles. |
EFT works by using one simple sequence of tapping points (see above picture). This EFT sequence was designed by Gary Craig to hit all the major meridian end points, regardless of the issue and releases blockages in the energy system that may have become a source of emotional intensity and discomfort leading to limiting beliefs and negative behaviours. This process is non-invasive, safe and easy to use which makes it a great self-help tool, empowering you to contribute to your own healing.

In particular, CBT as a therapeutic technique deals with your current problems and doesn't focus on issues from your past. The basis for this is to help you focus on the 'Now' and looks at practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis. CBT breaks down the issues into manageable parts (Situation / Thoughts / Emotions / Physical Feeling / Actions), looking at your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This process makes it easier to see how it is all connected and the affect it has on you. Breaking negative cycles and helping you change how you think (Cognitive) and what you do (Behavioural).
