If you are someone who suffers from OCD you will likely find your obsessions are recurrent thoughts, doubts, fears and impulses that dominate your mind. Often leaving you feeling you have no control over these thoughts. |
These compulsions are repetitive behaviour and you will find you perform the compulsion in accordance to 'rules'. Although you may believe the action pointless or ridiculous you cannot resist the compulsive behaviour. You are likely to experience increased anxiety if you resist and will find performing the action reduces that feeling. Unfortunately, this reinforces and compounds the compulsion.

- Checking things repeatedly
- Worrying about dirt or contamination
- Needing things to be perfect
- Counting rituals
There are many other symptoms, most of which will require you to carry out a form of ritual and may occupy several hours each day. Clinical Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis can be used to induce calmness and reduce the level of anxiety experienced, helping you to overcome your obsessive compulsive behaviour.
